This Easter’s Pop-Up Circus

During the Easter half-term break, the circus will return to Briggate in Leeds to much fanfare (and a new tent!).

From Saturday, April 1st, 2023, through Saturday, April 15th, 2023, would-be acrobats, jugglers, and stilt walkers can try their hand at a variety of circus skills offered daily.

LeedsBID, in collaboration with The Yorkshire Circus and Open Source Arts, will set up its own big top in the city’s main pedestrianised area, giving kids of all ages a chance to watch a variety of circus acts and try out some of the skills for themselves, at no cost.

At 11am, 12.30pm, and 2pm daily, the circus tent will host performances, and then at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm, the younger members of the audience will have the opportunity to participate in one of three workshops teaching a variety of circus skills, such as spinning, juggling, stilt walking, aerial hoop, and trapeze.

Tuesday 4th April – Balancing & Equilibristrics – Tightrope and Slackline

Wednesday 5th April – Juggling

Thursday 6th April – Wheel Props – Unicycle and Hula Hooping

Friday 7th April – Spinning Props – Diablo, Flower Sticks, Poi

Saturday 8th April – Aerial Hoop, Trapeze & Stilts

Sunday 9th April – Acrobatics & Parkour

Monday 10th April – Spinning Props – Diablo, Flower Sticks, Poi

Tuesday 11th April – Balancing & Equilibristrics – Tightrope and Slackline

Wednesday 12th April – Juggling

Thursday 13th April – Wheel Props – Unicycle and Hula Hooping

Friday 14th April – Spinning Props – Diablo, Flower Sticks, Poi

Saturday 15th April – Aerial Hoop, Trapeze & Stilts

Workshops, offering activities for all ages and abilities, run at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm and there will be stilt walkers entertaining the crowds at the weekends.

There is also free candy floss for the first 50 children taking part in the workshops every day between 12-3pm, with deck chairs and picnic tables in the vicinity for people to take a seat to watch the fun.
