Chapter 81 with Aire Street Studio

We asked our good friends at Aire Street Studio to give us a taste of the festivals and gigs coming up in a new feature we are calling The Ticket Stub.

As Leeds begins its preparation for a memorable summer of live music, fans and enthusiasts can rave in anticipation with a variety of unforgettable performances and events throughout the month of May.

From an array of thrilling sounds of artists such as Quasi, The Dualers, MØL, and Vacations performing in iconic venues such as the Brudenell Social Club, O2 Academy Leeds, The Key Club, and Belgrave Music Hall from May 1st up until May 12th, there will be, no doubt, something for everyone.

If solo gigs aren’t your thing, then don’t miss out on the start of festival season. The highly awaited Live at Leeds: In the Park, as well as Slam Dunk Festival, a pop-punk, emo, and alternative music festival, both held at Temple Newsam. Leeds is blessed with a hge house music scene, Defected will bring a special event to Canvas Yard on 7th May, then Garden Party will take over the same space on 27th and 28th May. Leeds Jazz Festival taking over various venues end of May. Mark your calendars and secure tickets as we delve into the hottest music events and gigs coming to Leeds in May.

The Dualers The Dualers

First up is Quasi, a band hailing from Portland, Oregon, having the warmest welcome to Leeds from the team at Brudenell Social Club, on 1st May. With their three decades of launching fresh, yet captivating, tunes and their positive-filled energy, this event would send anyone into an indie frenzy (obviously the main goal!).

Next up from a little closer to home, The Dualers, bringing the ska reggae vibe to the O2 Academy on the 5th. That being said, they have a reputation of being able to get a crowd going with their sound and overall unique aura – have I mentioned they never fail to sell out? So… what are you waiting for?!

The Key Club play host to what some call the bastard offspring of My Blood Valentine and the frozen north, MØL, who bring their unique sound to Leeds, from Aarhus, a city akin to Leeds, on 12th May.

Another treat not to be missed is Vacations, an Australian indie rock treat, also playing on the 5th at Belgrave Music Hall. With their nostalgic tunes and familiar melodies, there is no doubt their sounds would stay stuck in your head on repeat.

Live at Leeds: In the Park on May 27 and the Slam Dunk Festival on May 28 will provide a feast for music lovers with a hearty appetite, with performances by bands like Two Door Cinema Club, The Hives, Cavetown, The Offspring, Billy Talent, and PVRIS. Leeds Jazz Festival returns to the city from 25th-30th May, and fans of electronic music will have two weekends to get their groove on the Canvas Yard with the inaugural Defected Leeds on 7th May and the Garden Party on 27th and 28th May.
