New Riverside Pub to Open in Summer 2025

A brand-new independent pub is coming to the banks of the River Aire next summer, as the team behind Leeds favourites Whitelock’s Ale House, The Meanwood Tavern, and White Cloth Hall prepare to open Brewery Wharf Tavern in July 2025.

Situated in the heart of the city at Brewery Wharf—close to The Calls and the new Aire Park—this exciting new venue will offer a unique waterside experience, complete with a large, sun-soaked terrace overlooking the river. The spot, which many will remember as the former Home restaurant and, before that, iconic nightlife venue Oracle, is set for a new lease of life as a welcoming, community-focused pub.

Like its sister venues, Brewery Wharf Tavern will operate as an independent freehouse, offering an impressive range of independent beers and real ales, alongside curated wines and cocktails. The food menu, yet to be revealed, will focus on working with local Yorkshire suppliers—championing quality and sustainability in equal measure.

Ed Mason, Managing Director of Whitelock’s Group and co-founder of Five Points Brewing Company, said:

“Leeds has a lot of rooftop drinking spots, but very few waterside ones, so we are excited to be opening on the banks of the River Aire. We plan to bring our Whitelock’s values of a warm welcome, quality beers and a commitment to local and independent food and drink suppliers. We want to create a vibrant atmosphere at the heart of our local community – where everyone will be welcome.”

He added, “There remains strong demand for quality hospitality venues and we want to add to the range of brilliant Leeds businesses, while helping to contribute to the growing community as the city expands on the south side of the river.”

With a strong track record of reviving venues and building community favourites, Mason and the Whitelock’s Group have already made their mark on Leeds’ hospitality scene—revamping the historic Whitelock’s Ale House in 2012, opening The Meanwood Tavern in 2022, and launching all-day food and drink destination White Cloth Hall in 2024. Brewery Wharf Tavern looks set to continue that legacy, creating a new go-to for locals and visitors alike.
