Live Laugh Leeds: Comedy Roundup – April 2026

Ah Spring.

Peace.

Sunshine.

Birds tweeting in the light breeze.

Oh no, that neighbour no one likes has decided to do the world’s noisiest extension. The bins are being picked up. And Trev at number 42 has the leaf-blower out. Such peace. I love working from home.

So I’m going to head into town for a break – and maybe a bit of comedy. Here are our top picks if you’re doing the same:

Leeds Grand Theatre brings some huge names to the city this month, including pub landlord and political ranting Al Murray (12th), Loose Women star Judi Love (26th), and the always-brilliant Clinton Baptiste (22nd). TV stars Josh Widdicombe (29th) and James Acaster (30th) arrive at the end of month. My top pick though has to be W*nkernomics: Just Touching Base (27th). The Aussie business w*nkers who have been selling out shows around the world since an incredible Edinburgh run.

The City Varieties has another packed programme, with sharp New York storytelling comic Janine Harouni (2nd) and surreal poet and Alan Partridge star Tim Key (18th). Also recommended by us on the line-up this month are Alasdair Beckett-King (1st), Jessica Fostekew (16th), Pierre Novellie (22nd) and Matt Forde (28th).

The Wardrobe continues to be one of the busiest comedy spots in the city, with crowd work specialist Kane Brown (22nd) and the dark gothic storytelling of Vidura Bandara Rajapaksa (20th). There’s also another edition of the much-loved COBO: Comedy Shutdown (19th), which stars Shabz Kariem, Slim, Travis Jay, and Annette Fagon.

Hyde Park Book Club brings us Fringe favourite Grace Mulvey (12th) and deaf comedy advocate Ray Bradshaw (26th). We also suggest checking out Peter Flannigan (15th) and Tadiwa Mahlunge (26th).

The Glee Club brings veteran comic and chaotic storyteller Rob Rouse (12th) and there are wild real-life stories from obscene podcast favourites Luke and Pete (9th).

And as ever, look out for regular comedy nights at Headrow House, The Original Oak, The Hi-Fi Club, The Old Woollen, and the Parkside Tavern.

Plenty to go at. Which is good, because Trev’s put the leaf-blower away and has the lawnmower out. Surely, SURELY, you’d do that the other way round?
