🤣 Live Laugh Leeds – Comedy in September 2024
After the relative quiet of August, the comedy scene in Leeds bursts back into life for September. Here are our top picks.
Starting with the brilliant Fin Taylor (1st September, City Varieties). His web series Fin Vs. The Internet has been a huge online success – now he brings us an hour of “brutally funny stand-up”.
The City Varieties has an excellent and varied line up as ever – with shows this month from Myra Dubois (4th), Kiri Pritchard-McLean (6th), Tez Ilyas (19th), American star Steve Hofstetter (23rd), and the ever-funny Nish Kumar (29th).
But our VERY strong suggestion for the City Varieties this month is The Exploding Heads presents: Colin From Portsmouth, on the 12th. It’s brilliant and hilarious satire. Colin is the voice of a generation. But not in a good way.
The Grand Theatre has a stellar line-up this month too, with shows from Mo Gilligan (5th), Sarah Millican (6th and 7th), Katherine Ryan (12th), and Adam Kay (15th).
Our top pick for the Hyde Park Book Club this month is online star George Lewis (7th), while among the Wardrobe’s top shows are Count Binface (18th) and the brilliant Jeff Innocent (29th).
Legendary writer and stand-up Ben Elton brings his Authentic Stupidity to the Leeds Playhouse on the 26th and 27th, Kane Brown’s latest tour arrives at O2 Academy on the 18th, while the Leeds Arena has two shows from Liverpudlian comic Paul Smith on the 27th and 28th.
Plenty to enjoy! As ever, look out for regular comedy nights at Headrow House, The Original Oak, The Hi-Fi Club, The Old Woollen, and the Parkside Tavern.
