Headlining the season is a striking new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (14–28 Feb 2026), co-produced with Headlong, Shakespeare’s Globe and Bristol Old Vic. Directed by Holly Race Roughan, this bold reimagining promises to shine fresh light on Shakespeare’s much-loved comedy.

• A magical new A Christmas Carol (20 Nov 2025 – 17 Jan 2026) adapted by Yorkshire writer Deborah McAndrew and directed by Amy Leach.

Rooted (Oct–Nov) – a celebration of Black heritage and culture in partnership with Out of Many People CIC.

Ordinary Decent Criminal (12–13 Nov) – Mark Thomas stars in a powerful new play about freedom and rebellion in a radical prison experiment.

Stick Man (6 Dec 2025 – 4 Jan 2026) and Emporium Curioso 2 (17–18 Dec) bring festive fun for younger audiences.

The Playhouse will also welcome star comedians including Bridget Christie (30 Jan), Sara Pascoe (4 Feb), and Sue Perkins (6 Feb), plus thought-provoking shows as part of Leeds International Festival of Ideas (14–18 Oct).

Chief Executive Shawab Iqbal said: “This Autumn/Winter 2025-26 season, our focus remains on stories told with epic intent. We’re celebrating the connections that bring us together -within our Leeds communities, across Yorkshire, and throughout the UK theatre landscape.”
