Leeds Playhouse Unveils Autumn/Winter 2025-26 Season

Leeds Playhouse has announced an ambitious Autumn/Winter 2025-26 programme, packed with classic drama, new writing, family favourites and big-name guests.
Headlining the season is a striking new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (14–28 Feb 2026), co-produced with Headlong, Shakespeare’s Globe and Bristol Old Vic. Directed by Holly Race Roughan, this bold reimagining promises to shine fresh light on Shakespeare’s much-loved comedy.
Other highlights include:
• To Kill A Mockingbird (8 Sept – 4 Oct 2025) – Aaron Sorkin’s acclaimed stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s classic novel.
• A magical new A Christmas Carol (20 Nov 2025 – 17 Jan 2026) adapted by Yorkshire writer Deborah McAndrew and directed by Amy Leach.
• Rooted (Oct–Nov) – a celebration of Black heritage and culture in partnership with Out of Many People CIC.
• Ordinary Decent Criminal (12–13 Nov) – Mark Thomas stars in a powerful new play about freedom and rebellion in a radical prison experiment.
• Stick Man (6 Dec 2025 – 4 Jan 2026) and Emporium Curioso 2 (17–18 Dec) bring festive fun for younger audiences.
The Playhouse will also welcome star comedians including Bridget Christie (30 Jan), Sara Pascoe (4 Feb), and Sue Perkins (6 Feb), plus thought-provoking shows as part of Leeds International Festival of Ideas (14–18 Oct).
Chief Executive Shawab Iqbal said: “This Autumn/Winter 2025-26 season, our focus remains on stories told with epic intent. We’re celebrating the connections that bring us together -within our Leeds communities, across Yorkshire, and throughout the UK theatre landscape.”
