Leeds Laughs: October 2024 Comedy Roundup
Real Madrid v Barcelona, Ali v Frazier, Trump v Biden Harris…
The history of the world is peppered with great battles.
And now, it’s… Leeds City Varieties vs. The Wardrobe for the title of “Best Comedy Line Up of October 2024” – a much-sought-after, and also catchy, award.
The City Varieties comes out swinging (IT’S A BOXING METAPHOR) with heritage comic Su Pollard (2nd October), celebrating 50 years in show business. Right through to the star-in-the-making Sarah Keyworth (10th October).
Also on the lineup are Jimeoin (8th/9th October), Urzila Carlson (16th October), Jason Byrne (18th October), and the sensational Clinton Baptiste (21st October) – fresh from his incredible performance at the Kirkstall Abbey Comedy Festival.
Punching back (GIVE OVER!) is the Wardrobe, with shows from Laura Lexx (2nd October), Have A Word star Freddy Quinne (3rd October), Tom Stade (8th October), Alfie Brown (9th October), Hayley Ellis (10th October), Paul Foot (13th October), Dan Nightingale & Fiends (25th October), and the brilliant Vittorio Angelone (27th October).
And with shows from Desi Central and COBO Comedy Shutdown (20th October), you’ll be throwing in the towel with laughter! (STOP IT NOW)
Meanwhile, the Leeds Playhouse puts more fighters in the ring (THIS DOESN’T MAKE SENSE) with the multi-talented Fern Brady (10th October), and local-fast-becoming-legend Maisie Adam (16th October).
And a final mention for the Brudenell, which this month hosts the best show at the Edinburgh Fringe, Amy Gledhill’s “Make Me Look Fit On The Poster” (20th October).
It’s a knockout! (VOMITS)
As ever, look out for regular comedy nights at Headrow House, The Carriageworks, The Original Oak, The Hi-Fi Club, The Old Woollen, and the Parkside Tavern.
