Leeds Hospitality is on a Roll: Awards, Expansions and New Openings
Simon Fogal
It’s been a brilliant week for Leeds hospitality, with local names making headlines and turning heads both here at home and further afield.
First up, a huge congratulations goes to Silvers Deli, which has just been crowned Restaurant of the Year 2025 at the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year awards. The much-loved Leeds spot beat tough competition from across the UK to scoop the national prize, shining a spotlight on the city’s thriving food scene. Known for its viral sandwiches, community feel, and mega collaborations, Silvers Deli’s win is a testament to the talent, creativity, and hard work happening right here in Leeds’ kitchens.
Meanwhile, over in Manchester, one of our own has been causing quite the stir. Sqew, the shawarma specialists who first won hearts (and appetites) in Leeds, opened their second site last week, and the reaction was nothing short of phenomenal. Massive queues formed outside their brand-new Manchester location, as food lovers flocked to sample their authentic, levant-inspired flavours. It’s proof that what started as a Leeds favourite is now becoming a regional sensation.
And closer to home, The Savvy Baker, famed for indulgent brownies, cookies and sweet treats, has announced a brand-new site in Trinity Leeds. From kitchen-table beginnings to city centre storefront, it’s a story of passion, growth and one seriously loyal following. Leeds shoppers will now be able to grab their sugar fix right in the heart of the city.
Together, these stories highlight what we already know: Leeds hospitality is buzzing. Whether it’s independents being recognised on a national stage, homegrown businesses expanding into new cities, or local favourites opening their doors to even more people, there’s plenty to celebrate.
So next time you’re eating out (or treating yourself to something sweet), raise a glass, a shawarma, or a brownie to the brilliant people making Leeds one of the UK’s most exciting food destinations.
