Kaiser Chiefs Bring Riotous Celebration to Leeds with 20 Years of ‘Employment’

Chapter 81

Leeds has seen its fair share of iconic live music moments over the years. From legendary all-dayers at the now-very-defunct Queens Hall (currently home to Little Bao Boy and office blocks), to unforgettable Roundhay Park gigs like Bruce Springsteen and Loveparade, and of course, that massive Kaiser Chiefs hometown show at Elland Road back in 2008. Now, it looks like Temple Newsam is lining up to join the ranks of Leeds’ most historic gig locations, as the Kaiser Chiefs return in 2025 to celebrate 20 years of Employment, and they’re bringing some serious indie royalty with them.

Get ready for a massive moment in Leeds music history! On Saturday 31st May 2025, Kaiser Chiefs will take over Temple Newsam Park for a once-in-a-generation hometown gig celebrating 20 years since their iconic debut album ‘Employment’ changed the UK indie scene and Leeds forever.

And they’re not doing it alone.

The Leeds legends have pulled together a line-up that reads like a love letter to mid-noughties indie. Expect Razorlight, The Cribs, The Coral, We Are Scientists, and rising stars who we have chatted to at Leeds Festival HotWax and Ellur, all joining in on the celebrations for a jam-packed day of nostalgia, guitar anthems, and Yorkshire pride.

Released in 2005, Employment went seven-times Platinum, gave us bangers like I Predict A Riot and Oh My God, and earned its place as the best-selling album ever from a Leeds artist. Twenty years later, the Chiefs are back on home turf, ready to remind us why their music is stitched into the fabric of Leeds life, football chants, and indie disco dancefloors everywhere.

The Full Stage Times Are In:

• Kaiser Chiefs: 8:50pm – 10:30pm

• Razorlight (playing Up All Night in full): 7:20pm – 8:20pm

To make it even easier for fans to soak up every note, organisers Futuresound and SJM have sorted practical travel options: a shuttle bus service from Leeds City Centre, pre-bookable parking, and even a carbon-neutral coach service for fans travelling from further afield.

From local indie heroes to global cult favourite and a healthy dose of up-and-coming talent, this is shaping up to be the ultimate indie all-dayer. Whether you were there for the first riot or just discovering it all now, this is a celebration of Leeds music legacy that’s not to be missed.
