Domo Brings Sardinian Soul to Tower Works

Sardinia has landed on the South Bank. Domo, the Sardinian restaurant that built a following in Sheffield, has opened its first Leeds site at Tower Works, the former crane and conveyor factory turned canal-side development off Globe Road.

It’s the second venue for Sarah Elliott-Busceddu and Raffaele Busceddu, the husband-and-wife team who started Domo in Sheffield in 2019. The pair have built the place around family recipes and the food culture Raffaele grew up with, and the Leeds menu carries that through – Fregola with seafood, Culurgiones, Seadas, all made in-house, plus a Sardinian-style suckling pig feast for the table.

There’s a separate bar menu of small plates built for grazing rather than sitting down to a full meal, and a drinks list that leans into where the founders are from. The wines come from growers near Castelsardo, the Busceddu family hometown, sat alongside Sardinian beers and cocktails with a Sardinian twist. A weekday after-work aperitivo runs with selected drinks at £7.

The room itself was designed with Leeds studio 93ft, mixing authentic Sardinian furniture with handcrafted UK pieces from Made By Hands. A long bar anchors the space as its social centre, and an open kitchen adds a bit of theatre to the floor.

We sat down with Sarah to hear what Domo is about and why Leeds.

For Sarah, the appeal is as much about atmosphere as menu. “From day one, our vision has been to create a space where everyone feels welcome,” she said. “We’ve designed Domo to feel warm, inclusive and full of life. We can’t wait for people in Leeds to experience not just the food and drinks, but the atmosphere and sense of community that sits at the heart of everything we do.”

Domo is open now at Tower Works, taking walk-ins, with bookings available from Friday 19 June. There’s a weekday lunch menu for dine-in and takeaway alongside the à la carte, aimed at the residents and office workers around the South Bank.
