New Persian Restaurant Biya2 Brings Bold Flavours to Leeds
Chapter 81
Leeds has welcomed a fresh addition to its dining scene with the opening of Biya2, a new restaurant blending bold Mediterranean flavours with the rich tradition of Persian grilling.
Opening on Wellington Bridge Street in the former TGI Friday’s site, Biya2 promises more than just food. The 200-cover venue is designed to be an experience — from its stylish interior to its vibrant menu and lively atmosphere.
A Feast for the Eyes
The space has been transformed by interior designer Paul Scholfield, who has combined industrial touches with traditional Persian details. Guests are greeted by a striking open bar framed with handcrafted canvases of Iran, while warm earthy tones, gold accents, and soft lighting bring a sense of comfort and luxury. Reclaimed wood tables and bespoke banquette seating complete the look, creating a space that feels both contemporary and authentic.
A Celebration of Flavour
On the menu, diners can expect sizzling skewers, succulent grilled meats, colourful mezze and fresh, flavour-packed salads — all inspired by Persian heritage and regional Mediterranean influences. Wherever possible, dishes are created with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, keeping the food fresh, vibrant, and true to its roots.
Hospitality entrepreneur Toraj Dizchi, who has more than 40 years’ experience in the food and drink industry, is the driving force behind Biya2. His first Leeds venture, the much-loved Soosi in Roundhay, built a loyal following with its bold flavours and welcoming atmosphere. Biya2, he says, is the natural evolution of that vision.
“At Biya2 our aim is to create more than just a meal,” said Dizchi. “We want every guest to experience authentic flavours, handcrafted cuisine, and hospitality that comes from the heart. We believe we’ve created a unique concept for Leeds – a dining experience built on tradition with a bit of extra flair.”
More Than Just Dining
Beyond the food, Biya2 plans to host live entertainment, themed nights and special events, making it a destination for celebrations and evenings out with a difference.
Biya2 is part of The Capri Group, which operates five restaurants across West Yorkshire.
The restaurant is now open seven days a week, from 12pm–10pm. To mark its launch, guests can enjoy a special buffet menu priced at £30 per person, plus a complimentary welcome drink and entertainment from 7.30pm until late.
