Live Laugh Leeds: Comedy Roundup June 2026
Larry Budd
Your guide to the best comedy shows in Leeds in June 2026
I love June. The month of unachievable possibilities. You plan barbecue after barbecue, then cancel all of them because of the weather / England have done miraculously well in the World Cup / Tesco Express has no coal (delete as appropriate). Luckily, your mate Dave is on hand to repeatedly suggest a lads weekend to Malaga, before you all remember you’ve got kids. So you settle on a bottomless brunch that starts in Wetherspoons and somehow ends in Wakefield. Terrific.
Thankfully, after the Mimosa hangover, and before the inevitable and horrible penalty shootout, there’s plenty to cheer you up on the comedy scene. Here are our top picks.
Leeds Grand Theatre welcomes magic-loving buffoon Nick Mohammed Is Mr Swallow (5th and 6th) for a Leeds homecoming, alongside Irish relationship raconteur Joanne McNally (3rd).
Over at City Varieties Music Hall, there are two chances to see the amazing Jen Brister (9th and 10th), political satirist Matt Forde (15th) arrives with another hour of fast-moving current affairs comedy, while Ivo Graham (17th) brings his quirky storytelling style to one of Leeds’ best comedy rooms.
The Wardrobe continues its reign as one of the city’s busiest comedy venues with parody battle-rapper MC Hammersmith (3rd/4th), plus daft musical comic Rufus Rice (7th).
At The Glee Club, Reginald D Hunter (12th) headlines a huge Friday bill alongside the outrageously inappropriate Sol Bernstein. Also this month at Glee, see rising observational star Jake Lambert (10th) as part of a top line-up raising money for Epilepsy Action.
Meanwhile, Hyde Park Book Club continues flying the flag for alternative comedy and intimate previews. Their list of Work in Progress shows is as long as it is impressive. Rob Preston (21st) and Imogen Andrews (also 21st) lead the way this month. But there are loads of stars of the future you should see at HPBC before they get super-famous.
And as ever, look out for regular comedy nights at Headrow House, The Original Oak, The Hi-Fi Club, The Old Woollen, and the Parkside Tavern.
Plenty to go at, then. Which is ideal, because by the time you’ve finally agreed on a date for that “massive summer catch-up”, half the group will be on holiday, somebody will have started training for a half marathon, and your one spare weekend has just been taken up by Auntie Jean getting married. Again.
