Trinity Leeds Welcomes LEGO and schuh in Double Store Opening

Chapter 81

Trinity Leeds is kicking off spring with two major new store openings, as schuh and the LEGO Group both confirm April launch dates at the city centre shopping destination.

Fashion footwear retailer schuh opens first on Friday 17th April, followed by an upsized LEGO store on Thursday 23rd April. The pair are the latest in a run of new arrivals at Trinity Leeds, which also includes Jerk Junction, Lane7, Footasylum and Maya’s Café.

schuh returns to the city centre

Located on the lower ground floor, the new schuh store marks the brand’s return to central Leeds and will debut its latest ‘new schuh’ concept — a modern retail fit-out featuring high-resolution store screens, click and collect kiosks, and a first-of-its-kind open plan entrance with bespoke ramps, steps and product displays designed to be inclusive for all customers.

Shoppers will find favourites including New Balance, BIRKENSTOCK, UGG and Nike. The store also brings schuh’s sustainability initiatives to Leeds, including the ‘Sell Your Soles’ scheme, which offers £5 off a new pair of shoes in exchange for donated pre-loved footwear. In a further nod to circularity, schuh has partnered with plastic fabrication company Floreeda to repurpose acrylic from previous store displays into colourful new shoe risers.

Opening day will include complimentary barista-made coffee from Vinyl Grounds, an exclusive anklet with a Nelle Studios charm for BIRKENSTOCK customers, and a prize draw for a pair of BIRKENSTOCK for anyone signing up to THE SCHUH CLUB loyalty programme.

Neil Partington, Chief Retail Officer at schuh, said: “Opening our new store at Trinity Leeds and being back in the city centre is an exciting moment for schuh. Our new schuh store will reaffirm our connection with the Leeds community and ensure we are at the heart of the city’s retail scene. We look forward to welcoming customers into the new space, offering them a more dynamic retail experience designed for discovery and self-expression.”

LEGO upsizes to a bigger Trinity home

Six days later, the LEGO Group opens the doors to a significantly larger 456sq m store, the only LEGO store in West Yorkshire. Launch day will feature specially-designed, Yorkshire-inspired LEGO models for shoppers to see and pose with.

The new space includes a LEGO Pick a Brick Wall for finding individual pieces, a Build a Minifigure station where shoppers can mix and match to create their own characters, and a programme of free build challenges and in-store events. ‘Brick Specialists’ will be on hand throughout to offer expert advice.

Steven Foster, Centre Director at Trinity Leeds, said: “The new LEGO store is bigger and better than ever before with some incredible interactive elements that will allow creativity and imaginations to flourish. As the only LEGO store in West Yorkshire, it has already proved incredibly popular here at Trinity Leeds, and this new store will bring even more of what LEGO fans love.”

On schuh’s arrival, Foster added: “The centre is ready to welcome schuh and we know our guests will love the many choices they have to offer. We’re looking forward to welcoming schuh to our retail line-up and are thrilled that they have chosen Trinity Leeds for its return to our wonderful city.”
