Fans of funny are once again spoilt for choice in Leeds this month.

Our highlight takes us out of the city centre. To the Old Woollen in Farsley. Where there’s an evening with legendary star of ‘Bottom’ Adrian Edmondson, as part of the Farsley Literature Festival, on the 18th of October.

It’s a podcast fan’s dream at the City Varieties this month. Star of ‘Have A Word’, Adam Rowe, is here with his new stand-up tour on the 11th of October. Richard Herring’s podcast swaps Leicester Square for Leeds on the 14th of October with special guests Amar Latif and Corinne Bailey Rae. And 5Live star John Robins has two nights of stand-up on the 18th and 19th of October.

Film fans rejoice – a parody of Die Hard arrives at the City Varieties on the 1st October. This joyful show is on tour after rave reviews for its premiere at Edinburgh Fringe.

The Varieties completes its October comedy lineup with Strictly star Seann Walsh (4th October), Jason Byrne (5th October), the whip-smart Simon Brodkin (7th October), Ed Byrne (15th October), Alok (16th October), the brilliant Bridget Christie (21st October), BGT star Axel Blake (23rd October), Mock the Week mainstay Andy Parsons (26th October), rising star Kae Kurd (27th October), and the cult hero Garth Marenghi brings his Incarcerat Book Tour to Leeds on the 30th October. What a great lineup.

A couple of nice shows for comedy fans at the Carriageworks Theatre this month. Best known for the online smash ‘Yorkshire Kardashians’, stand-up and impersonator Steff Todd plays on the 27th of October. And for younger comedy fans, Spontaneous Potter Kidz: The Unofficial Improvised Parody has a matinee on the 28th October.

One of the biggest stars of alternative comedy, James Acaster, has FOUR nights at the Leeds Playhouse (25th-28th October) – it’s sold out every single night. Which just feels like showing off.

And the Wardrobe is spoiling us too, with shows from online politics star Josh Berry (4th October), everyone’s favourite gobby Manc Princess Josh Jones (5th October), a rescheduled afternoon with Tez Ilyas followed by a Black History Month Special of Comedy Shutdown (8th October), Alfie Brown (16th October), and comic and scientist Ria Lina (19th October).

And as ever, look out for regular comedy nights at the Hi-Fi Club, Headrow House, The Original Oak, The Old Woollen, and the Parkside Tavern.
