Our Pop-Up Circus rolls back onto Briggate

Young would-be clowns, acrobats and jugglers can once again try their hands at a range of circus disciplines on offer daily from Saturday 28th May-Saturday June 4th 2022 throughout the forthcoming half-term school break.

Brought back by LeedsBID, in association with The Yorkshire Circus and Super Friendz, the Pop-Up Circus will transform a section of the city’s main pedestrianised area into a performance space, with children able to watch an assortment of circus skills before trying it for themselves – all for free.

Each day starts with an introduction and short performance, before the chance for the young members of the audience to take part in one of three workshops a day, teaching multiple circus skills from spinning and juggling to stilt walking, unicycle and trapeze.

Offering activities for all ages and abilities, there is also the opportunity to get involved with daily story time sessions, arts and crafts and face painting, with free candyfloss for those taking part.

Saturday 28th May – Aerial Hoop, Trapeze & Stilts 

Sunday 29th May – Acrobatics & Parkour

Monday 30th May – Spinning Props (Diablo, Flower Sticks, Poi)

Tuesday 31st May – Balancing & Equilibristrics (Tightrope and Slackline) 

Wednesday 1st June – Juggling

Thursday 2nd June – Wheel Props – Unicycle and Hula Hooping

Friday 3rd June – Spinning Props – Diablo, Flower Sticks, Poi

Saturday 4th June – Aerial Hoop, Trapeze & Stilts 

Performances start from 11am each day, with entertaining activities and workshops running up until 4pm. Circus themed crafts and face painting are held every day between 12.30-2.30pm, with Story Corner at 11am-12pm and 3-4pm.

The Pop-Up Circus will be pitching up on the event space on Briggate (outside the former Debenhams) – all activities are free and available on a first come, first served based.
